Realistic. Authentic. Ambitious...

...those are the first things that come to mind when I actually think about myself in more detail. It's not that easy to quickly write a post that's just about yourself. I'm 29 years old, 186 cm tall, and have been happily married for almost three years. The various stations and clubs I've been in over the years have given me a variety of nicknames. Most people call me Jenny, Jenna, JJ, and when things get more serious, Jennifer. Even as a child, I spent every free minute outside on the playground or in the yard playing with the ball against a wall. From the very beginning of my sporting career, I've been an outside attacker with strengths in receiving, defense, and serving.

media and communication management

In addition to sport, I am currently studying media and communication management (MA) at the SRH Distance Learning University. Before that, I completed a full-time degree in business administration at the University of Wismar during my time in Schwerin. In addition to the physical and sporting exertion, the course also helps me to develop my mind and certainly to think about other things. Although the combination of sport and study is certainly strenuous and requires good planning, important theoretical aspects are taught as parallels from the world of work, which are also of great importance in sport on and off the field.

Lifestyle & more

I like structure and order, I prefer to write my to-do's on a list and my friends usually have to persuade me to do something spontaneous. On days off, I take off my sports clothes and am happy with every pair of jeans and sweater in my closet. I prefer to wear my white flat sneakers. Because I live in Emlichheim, near the Dutch border, I love discovering Dutch fashion and decoration trends for myself. In my free time, I like to relax on the couch, ride my bike or meet up with friends. I'm more of an early riser and coffee is a must in my morning routine. Alongside my preferences, there are of course also rough edges. My baking skills have definitely fallen by the wayside and my patience is usually on a rather short thread. At the same time, I don't have a green thumb and even a simple palm tree has a hard time surviving because of my constant absence.

I believe that we athletes, especially those from fringe sports, should think more transparently about our career paths and at the same time be proud of the successes we have achieved. And yes, the current developments in the media allow me to do this.
